FAQ

- Why choose KEM Diesel?

We have been tuning Fords and GMs both at the OEM level and in the aftermarket for over 20 years now. All of our tuning is done on our own vehicles first before releasing any files to the customer. We are the originator of 6.4L and 6.7L on highway and competition tuning and know what works an what doesn't.

- I have questions regarding my files and or tuner. What information do I need BEFORE calling?

Before calling for any type of tech support, please have the following information available: VIN, tuner type and serial number, engine part number, trans part number, list of the vehicle modifications, which power level or file you are experiencing issues with, list of present DTCs, and a brief description of the symptoms you are experiencing.

- Are there any updates for my tuner?

We will post on the home page when updates are available. If you have a product with a SD card, please download our updater program from HERE as it will be used to deliver your file(s).

- I am looking for a file that is not listed above, what do I do?

We can custom make any power level and for any types of modifications on the truck. Call us to discuss your needs.

- I placed my order online, how do I get my file(s)?

In order for us to make your custom file(s), you need to submit the following information to sales @ kemdiesel . com (do not use the spaces!) :

VIN, Engine part Number (i.e. 8c3a-14c204-xx  found using the tuner), Trans Part Number (i.e. 8c3a-14c337-xx found using the tuner), Tuner serial number (SCT products),  Tuner type (Mini Maxx, Black Maxx or XRT Pro for H&S products), List of Mods on the truck, and the completed, signed, and dated disclaimer.

- Where do I find the required signed disclaimer that must be filled out, signed, and returned to us before product ships? Note: the disclaimer is only for race tuners, i.e SCT 3015R, or 9625OR.

The disclaimer can be found  HERE. All other non race tuners will need a signed and notarized affidavit. The affidavit can be downloaded from here: Affidavit

- I just purchased custom files for my Livewire or XCal, how do I get them on the tuner?

To put the files into the tuner you will need to use the SCT uploader software found on the SCT website. After install, follow the on screen prompts for installing your tune(s) onto the tuner.

- What if the file I received is not what I requested, do I have to pay again?

If the file(s) sent to you were not as you specifically requested with the initial email, we will remake the files for you free of charge (up to 2 times within the first 10 business days). Requests for changes after 10 business days will be charged the $75 file remake fee. If the file is as requested but you forgot to include everything needed to make your file in the original request, there will be a $75 custom file remake charge.

- What if I sent all the information initially but after receiving a couple of files they are still not what I requested?

On rare occasions, we might need to have the truck brought to our shop or have recordings made and sent to us for review.

- Do I have to pay for a new file if I change any hard parts on my truck?

Yes, there will a $75 custom file remake charge for each file that you want updated to match the new hardware.

- Do I have to pay for a new file if I want to change the power level?

As all files are custom made, there are no refunds or exchanges of a file or files for a change in power level after the originally requested files have been sent. If you want a different power level file, there will be a charge (cost based on power level) for each new file that you want.

- What is your policy for an issue with a file that I received a while ago and am just now getting around to trying?

If a file or files sent to you are not performing as expected and you do not bring it to our attention within 10 business days, there will be a charge to look over and fix the file(s) - NO EXCEPTIONS!

- I have a check engine light, what should I do?

Before calling us, please try a different file and see if the issue is still occurring. If it is, there is more than likely an issue with the truck. We recommend consulting your mechanic for repairs or advice. As it can be very difficult to diagnose your vehicle without having it present at our shop, please don't call us for advice on diagnosis or repairing the truck.   If it only occurs with one of our files, please send us an email with the following: Code(s) present, your VIN, which file it is occurring with, type of tuner, and a list of the truck's modifications. We will check over the file(s) and respond via email with our findings and/or a new file(s).
